| Using BeFTP to
download Bibles for Noah Bible Viewer to media card
This is a step-by-step pictorial guide of how to use
BEIKS' BeFTP to download Bibles to the phone's media card.
Note you must have already downloaded, installed
and ran once Noah Bible Viewer 4 on the BlackBerry.
Naturally, when you run it Noah would report that
it can not find installed Bibles. That is OK.
1) Download
BeFTP . You do NOT need to pay for it if all you are going to be
using it for is downloading Bibles or dictionaries from BEIKS'
website.
2) Run BeFTP from the main application launcher on
your BlackBerry:

3) Shortly after launching, a registration screen
should appear. Hit the CONTINUE button unless you plan on using BeFTP often or for profit purposes:

4) In the main BeFTP screen, click the "Open BEIKS
public FTP" to connect to the BEIKS public file server.

(If you are downloading Bible from a different vendor, you will need
to use the "Change account" command first to create a new account
and configure it with the appropriate settings from your vendor.)
5) If everything is right you should shortly see a picture of a
folder called "public".
If the BlackBerry stalls or you receive an error then you will
have to troubleshoot your BeFTP
connection.

6) Select and click the "public" folder; that should reveal another
list of folders.
There may be one or more, the one you need is called BlackBerry:

6) Continuing the same way, navigate to the Noah 4 folder by
entering, in order, the "Noah" and the "4" folders, until you reach
the contents of folder "/public/BlackBerry/Noah/4.0":

As you can see the various Bibles are placed in separate folders.
You can download the ones you are interested, one by one, by
entering the according folders and downloading the files from there
to the media card of your BlackBerry. Let us say you want to
download the contents of the full ASV bible (the first in the list).
7) Select and click "ASV_Full" folder to enter it and see its
contents:

Every Bible is represented by TWO files and they both need to be
downloaded, one after another.
8) Select and click the first file in the list to download it. BeFTP
comes up with a screen inviting you to select a target folder where
the file will be saved.
This is a crucial step as Noah expects Bibles
to be located in a certain folder on the media card!

9) Noah 4 expects to find Bibles in the "/BlackBerry/BEIKS/Bibles/"
folder or some of its sub-folders on the media card.
If you have run Noah at least once before running BeFTP, the
appropriate target folder will be already created for you and you
will just need to select it now.
Doing the same as before, select and open "SDCard", then
"BlackBerry", then "BEIKS", then "Bibles" until you get this screen:

10) Hit the menu button and choose "Download
here..." from it:

BeFTP should display the download size progress in the status bar of
your BlackBerry.
We recommend that you do not use the device until the download is
complete. Upon download completion, BeFTP
will display a message. Do the same with the
second file and you are done downloading this Bible!
Notes:
- You may download all files for the different Bibles within the
same folder on the card or you may create sub-folders in it, like
they are created on the BEIKS FTP server; Noah will find them either
way, as long as they are inside the dedicated folder for storing
Noah Bible files.
- This version of BeFTP does NOT allow download resumes; if a
download was broken for whatever reason, you will need to overwrite
the file and download it from the beginning. |
